Hi! I'm Josh, a working senior network engineer, managing large scale, statewide networks consisting of everything from BGP peerings, OSPF, hundreds of circuits and much more. I've done work from staying up at 10pm diagnosing BGP peerings, to configuring Nexus chassis switches. I wanted to give back to the network community and help those who have a desire to get into technology, but more specifically network engineering. Routed Bytes is going to help entry level engineers, and maybe some senior level engineers, by providing network, and information technology content, in easily undertable bytes of information. Some of this content would be explaining different protocols, various tools, providing cheatsheets, diagnosing configurations, and much more! Make sure to pin this website, and follow me on social media for more content.
Why might this be important or helpful, you ask? Well, since technology is always changing, it can be hard to stay on top of things, and sometimes the best way to learn things is to start from ground 0, and learn it in simple terms, then learn a bit deeper. Some of these posts can help you get a simple grasp on various network topics and how they work. Additionally, I will be providing various cheatsheets, because when you're trying to figure out an issue and 2 am with little to no coffee, having something to reference things can sometimes be the most helpful tool. Some of these are ones that I wished existed when I was starting.
Take a quick peek at some of the recent Network Log posts. They all contain something useful, and some contain some resources and cheatsheets to pin above your monitors.
No good network log can be conquered with out some good, quality resources and cheatsheets by your side. Take a peek at some of our top performing resources and use them for yourself!
The domain, routedbytes.com comes from routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, etc where there are IP routing tables, and bytes of the information on the network. This was combined for many meanings, as it was a technical slogan, and a meaning where we can route bytes(info) to readers in an easier to understand way.
